Windows administrators who are not into the category based control panel but want a fast way to access system settings in a taskview kind of way, might be interested in a hidden feature that is known by the name Godmode and is available in Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 2008.
To access this control panel just create a folder named:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
You can create the folder anywhere you want. In fact, you can change the part before the dot to anything you want, but most people use Godmode.
You will notice that the folder's icon is changed to that of the control panel. When doubleclicking the icon the tasklist controlpanel pops up.
My Windows 2008 server displays 34 categories in total containing 1 to 26 tasks, while Windows 7 displays 47 categories.
This post applies to: Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7.
